Barasoain Celebrates 123rd First Philippine Republic Day
The celebration of the First Philippine Republic Day, also known as the Anniversary of the Ratification of the Malolos Constitution, was celebrated in Barasoain Church in a simple fashion.
The celebration was spearheaded by the National Historical Commission - Barasoain Historical Landmark to commemorate the special occasion in the history of the country.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the celebration was toned down for the second year.
The First Republic of the Philippines was established in Malolos, Bulacan on Jan. 23, 1899. It also marks the anniversary of the start of the Presidency of Emilio Aguinaldo, the country's first president.
