Retrofitting of Barasoain Church to Begin Next Year

August 4, 2019

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines is set to begin the retrofitting of Barasoain Church in 2020, according to the report from Philippine Information Agency.

The retrofitting will be done to preserve the structural integrity of the church, as well as to preserve the design and treat the deteriorating areas and conduct soil stabilization to strengthen its foundations.

The project will cost PHP 20 million which was included to the NHCP's annual budget for this year.

The agency is now coordinating with the parish to determine on how the retrofitting works will be done and if closure of the church will be necessary.

The project will last for eight months to one year. Scheduled weddings are advised to coordinate with the parish should adjustments be needed.

Update:

This article was updated to reflect the new retrofitting schedule of 2020 instead of 2019 as initially reported.
